Mumbai: Once again, a controversy has erupted over the use of bulldozers by the authorities in Maharashtra. During this operation, a shrine was demolished, reportedly after a warning from BJP MLA Nitesh Rane, prompting action from the authorities.

It is reported that under the cover of darkness, a shrine located on the Nasik-Manmad highway was bulldozed. Previously, a shrine in Mira Road was also demolished. BJP MLA Nitesh Rane had raised the issue of a shrine located on a national highway in the assembly, referring to it as “land jihad”.

He had also given an ultimatum to remove the shrine, which resulted in the authorities demolishing it with a bulldozer. It was in the shape of a tomb. Following this operation, stringent security measures have been taken on the highway. A large number of police forces have been deployed to prevent any untoward incidents.

BJP MLA and spokesperson Nitesh Rane, along with his supporters, had displayed images of the shrine located on the Nasik-Manmad highway in the vicinity of the legislative assembly, expressing strong dissatisfaction with it.

Last Thursday, Nitesh Rane had stated that creating unauthorized shrines on national highways is not acceptable. He clarified that it was an ancient shrine and not constructed recently.
